Real Eiffel Conditions!!
The weather forecast for the 6hr ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen was not one you would expect for a summer event. There would not be a great many of dry laps, but for sure it would be a very exciting race. The car was prepared perfectly again after the accident during the last event. Also the occupation of the car remained the same with; Norbert Fischer , Marco Seefried and Nick de Bruijn.
On Saturday morning it was possible for Nick to set a very reasonable time early on in the session. This was only his first lap on slick tires as his previous laps were still on intermediates. Though Marco was able to slightly improve the lap time when conditions got better, they remained at the same position and were given the 13th starting spot for the race.
The start was taken care of by Marco, he unfortunately had to stop early as he might slight contact with another driver in the sixth lap. Nick took over the steering wheel, but had to come in multiple times for tire changes. The conditions during the 2.45hr stint were very though. There was rain, it got dry, there were wet corners and sunshine. Everything that one possibly could imagine was there to be found. During his stint Nick was able to climb up from p26 to a top-10 position. When Nick got out of the car he said; “This is incredible, I have never in my life seen anything so crazy. It got dry and then wet. Dry again and wet again. It was a madhouse in which a lot of drivers made mistakes. There were wracks to be found everywhere.” During the driver change Norbert took over the wheel and he managed to put down a solid performance and keep the car out of the walls as well. In the stint it was up to Marco to finish off and secure the podium finish. A very good result of the MSpeed crew after a difficult start of the race!!
The entire team was very satisfied by the performance of the crew and drivers and it promises to give an exciting race again next time. Team manager Michele Rinaldi said after the finish; “We can be very happy with the result and we are getting closer and closer. It is just a small step to go and we will find ourselves constantly in the top-5! We already have made plans for a small upgrade for the next race and so it could be very promising for a podium result..”
