Nick de Bruijn hit off the road after 135 laps
TRI-COUNTY, USA – Dutch race driver Nick de Bruijn returned to the Late Model Championship after his adventure in the NASCAR Camping World East Series. The 21-year old from Vlaardingen has only raced a few times with the 400 hp strong car so far. The race went over 200 laps, instead of the usual 50. The Dutchman was quickly on the pace, but he didn’t get to see the finish. A competitor hit the back of de Bruijn's car after hitting the wall and took the 2004 European Go-Karting champion out with him on lap 135. He retired with damages, while he was driving great lap times to improve his position.For the first time since the beginning of May, they travelled to the oval of Tri-County. “I needed a few laps to get used to the car again but we were fast to be on the pace”, said Nick de Bruijn who didn’t find the right way to work the new tires, but proved to have a steady ‘race pace’ as he drove 25 laps for his Friday test with good lap times.
